Chia Song Hwee was appointed president and CEO of Chartered in June 2002.

Prior to his appointment as president and CEO, Mr. Chia served as senior vice president, chief financial officer, and chief administrative officer. As a principal member of the Office of the President from August 2000 to June 2002, Mr. Chia broadened his involvement in the strategic, customer, and technology aspects of the business and played a leadership role in forming Chartered's key business collaborations.

Since joining Chartered in 1996, Mr. Chia's responsibilities have steadily expanded to include finance, strategic development, technology alliances, and legal. Mr. Chia joined Chartered from Schlumberger, a global services company, where he quickly moved through control and finance positions of increasing responsibility.

Mr. Chia received his Bachelor of Business (Accountancy), with distinction, from Edith Cowan University, Australia and is a member of CPA Australia. Mr. Chia was named executive of the year in the EETimes' 2007 Annual Creativity in Electronics Awards.
