Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Adds
Operations VP
SINGAPORE – September 9, 1998
-- Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing has announced that Rob Baxter has
joined the company in the newly created position of senior vice president,
business operations. He reports to company president and CEO, Barry
Waite.
Mr. Baxter, who is based at
Chartered headquarters in Singapore, oversees all business operations,
including worldwide sales, marketing, design and technical support
activities.
Mr. Baxter joins Chartered from
Motorola’s semiconductor group, where he was vice president and general
manager of the advanced digital consumer division, headquartered in Japan.
Previously, Mr. Baxter has managed Motorola’s consumer and smartcard
microcontroller division in the US. He also spent seven years in Scotland
managing Motorola’s European microcomponent operation.

substantially strengthen Chartered’s ability to develop those strategies
supporting the company’s thrust to be the foundry partner for systems
technology solutions. Rob’s experienced and strength will be significant in
Chartered’s growth over future years," said Barry Waite.
