New Israel Office Marks Expansion for Chartered Semiconductor
Manufacturing
Tel-Aviv, ISRAEL – March 11, 1998 -- Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing
today announced the opening of a new office in Tel-Aviv, Israel. The office
establishes local marketing presence and customer support capability for
Chartered's Israel-based customers. It will provide immediate customer access
to Chartered's leading-edge process technologies for integrated circuits
(ICs), wafer manufacturing, and full turnkey solutions through the company's
EDA and test and assembly partners. Chartered's global customer base includes
semiconductor companies with internal fabrication facilities, as well as
fabless IC companies, that utilize Chartered's wafer manufacturing
capabilities.
In addition, the Company has named Hod Finkelstein as Country Manager,
responsible for heading the new office. Mr. Finkelstein joins Chartered from
Intel Corporation's Israel Design Center in Haifa, where he was a design
engineer. He holds a B.S.E.E. degree from Cornell University and has completed
the Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in electrical engineering at the
Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.

The expansion into Israel follows two openings late last year of Chartered
offices in suburban Paris and London. The Company is building its presence in
