Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Names New Vice President
For
Worldwide Marketing
SINGAPORE and MILPITAS, Calif. -- May 27, 1998 -- Chartered
Semiconductor Manufacturing has announced that Brian C. Klene has joined the
company as vice president of worldwide marketing.
Mr. Klene, who
reports to Chartered’s president and CEO, Barry Waite, is based at the
Company’s headquarters in Singapore. Mr. Klene will have worldwide marketing
responsibility and will spearhead Chartered’s marketing intelligence and
strategy formulation, while working closely with the company’s regional
sales and business development teams.
Mr. Klene comes to Chartered
after 18 years of sales and marketing experience with Micron Technology and
IBM. Most recently, Mr. Klene was executive vice president of sales and
marketing at Micron Electronics, Inc. (MEI), a position he held since 1995.
He was responsible for worldwide sales, marketing, customer service, and
technical support for computer products.
Mr. Klene first joined MEI’s
parent company, Micron Technology, Inc. (MTI) in 1989 as director of sales
and marketing for the memory applications group. In 1990, he was named
regional sales manager for the company. From 1991 until 1993, he was
national sales manager and, in 1993, he became director of North American
sales. Then from 1994 to 1995, he assumed responsibility as general manager
of the integrated products division. In these positions, Mr. Klene was
responsible for business development, sales and marketing programs for
DRAMs, SRAMs, VRAMs and other specialized semiconductors, especially in the
United States and Canada.
Mr. Klene’s previous experience includes 10
years with IBM in various marketing management, sales and systems
engineering assignments. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from The Citadel
in South Carolina and a master of business administration degree from the
University of Southern California.
