Chartered Semicondutor and
Virtual Silcon Fuel IP Intergration for 0.25-Micron
SUNNYVALE, CA August
10, 1998 Chartered Semiconductor
Manufacturing and Virtual Silicon Technology, Inc. announced today that they
have entered into a joint marketing and technical support agreement under
which customers using Virtual Silicons Diplomat-25Ô libraries will have access to Chartereds 0.25-micron
foundry services. A test chip has been taped out to demonstrate
library/process compatibility and customers can begin designs
immediately.
The agreement between the companies attests
to the importance of intellectual property (IP) integration in complex
0.25-micron designs. It will help accelerate foundry customers time to market
and allow Chartereds IP partners use of the Diplomat-25 libraries to verify
their IP on Chartered silicon. Customers will have access to the widest
possible portfolio of IP, implemented with Virtual Silicons quality standard
cells, I/Os, datapaths, memories and phase lock loops.
"The addition of Virtual Silicon to our EDA/A
partner program will benefit our system-on-a-chip (SOC) customers who are
looking for silicon proven libraries," said Ajay Lalwani, strategic marketing
manager at Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing. "We are pleased that Virtual Silicon is
enabling greater customer access to our partners complex IP cores."
"We welcome Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing as our
Diplomat foundry partner" said Michael Kliment, chief operating officer at
Virtual Silicon. "This program will assure our customers and IP AmbassadorÔ
partners access to Chartereds advanced process technology and quality
manufacturing services."
