Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Appoints
New President for North American Operations
MILPITAS, Calif., -- March 17,
1999 -- Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Manufacturing announced today that
Michael J. Rekuc has joined the company as president of its North
American operations. In this capacity, Mr. Rekuc will be responsible
for Chartered's North America region including sales, customer support
services, and all regional administrative activities. Based at the company's
Silicon Valley facility in Milpitas, Calif., Mr. Rekuc will also oversee
Chartered offices in Southern California, Boston, and New York
City.
Mr. Rekuc reports to Rob Baxter, senior vice-president of
business operations at Chartered. Commenting on the appointment, Rob Baxter,
said, "Mike's semiconductor experience -- coupled with his close
customer relationships -- positions him well within Chartered's culture of
being a trusted manufacturing service partner for system-level
technologies. We look to his leadership in strengthening current
relationships in our North America region while developing new ones among
customers and partners alike."
Mr. Rekuc brings nearly 30 years of
electronics and semiconductor industry experience. From 1976 until joining
Chartered, Mr. Rekuc held sales, management and director positions in the
semiconductor product sector of Motorola, Inc. His most recent positions
included worldwide responsibilities as global sales director for wireless
subscriber systems, and a 2-year role as vice president and sales director
for PC, computing and peripherals. Additional experience includes
responsibility for field design centers, field applications engineering and
market development. Mr. Rekuc holds a bachelor of science degree in
electrical engineering from Lawrence University in
Michigan.
