Chartered Awarded Exar's Supplier of the Year Honors

MILPITAS, CA and FREMONT, CA -- July 26, 2000 -- Exar Corporation has named Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing as its fiscal year 2000 supplier of the year for achieving Exar's highest ratings in the areas of quality, reliability, customer service, on-time delivery and cost. Chartered is a second-time winner of the award, having also been named supplier of the year for Exar's fiscal year 1998.
Exar has also recognized Chartered with two other awards, the Supplier Partnership of the Year and Supplier Task Team of the Year. The awards are presented to one company that has demonstrated ongoing quality/value-added service and support and the ability to provide solutions to ad-hoc situations that can impact wafer delivery times.
Donald L. Ciffone, president and CEO of Exar, placed the awards in context of the company's total quality system, saying, "Without the help and cooperation of our suppliers, we could not achieve our goal of totally satisfying the requirements of our customers. Chartered's team has exceeded our requirements time and again, demonstrating their commitment to our performance criteria."

"Mutual success is the core of any valued long-term relationship in our industry," said Michael Rekuc, president of Chartered's Americas region. "This important award reinforces our role and responsibilities as participants in that success and gives us a model for providing the best service possible to all of our customers."
