CHARTERED GOES LIVE WITH OPEN VCX CONNECTION

Joint Third-Party IP Initiative Launches Expanded Web Portal;
Next Targets System-Level IP

June 16, 2003

Catena Wireless Electronics

"The development of advanced Communication RF and Analog IP puts high demands on modeling and support by the foundry. Chartered Semiconductor has lived up to the expectations in a very good way and made it possible to silicon validate a VCO targeting Cellular Transceivers for GSM Terminals."

- Mats Carlsson, Operations Manager

ChipIdea Microelectronics

"Since joining the Chartered Express program in August 2002, ChipIdea has hardened several sets of IP in multiple process technologies and listed these IP via VCX. The measure of success for any IP prototyping program is customer design success with the IP. The initial set of ChipIdea IP listed with VCX for Chartered processes has already been proven in customer design. Additional IP components are now being integrated by customers into their designs targeted for manufacturing with Chartered, and customer interest continues to expand."

- Dr. Yanyan Qiu, Marketing Information Manager

LEDA Systems

"LEDA Systems is very excited about the results that we have seen using the new Chartered-VCX capabilities. We can upload our IP to the VCX portal and then have them appear on the Chartered website. Providing timely updates to our customers is very important."

- Steve Kompolt, Vice President of Marketing

Pultronics Inc.

"Pultronics is pleased to work with Chartered and VCX to silicon validate AMS IP with optional BIST for that IP on-chip. We believe that the IP-based design methodology will greatly benefit from mixed-signal IP components that are complemented by an infrastructure portion for easy testing in development and production environments. For the first time, customers can choose to add some infrastructure silicon to the IP in the form of dedicated IP. Pultronics is pioneering this methodology by introducing this for PLLs. By working with Chartered and VCX, Pultronics is able to prove this capability in silicon and facilitate customer evaluation and acquisition of this IP."

- Dr. Bozena Kaminska, CEO
