CHARTERED NAMES 2005 TOP SUPPLIERS
SINGAPORE - February 21, 2006 - Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing (Nasdaq: CHRT and SGX-ST: Chartered), one of the world's top dedicated semiconductor foundries, has honored the contributions and achievements of its manufacturing materials, equipment and services suppliers during the company's annual Supplier Day event. During the event held Friday, February 17, in Singapore, Ebara Corporation, Fujitsu Asia Pte Ltd and National Oxygen Pte Ltd were named top suppliers for 2005. Applied Materials South East Asia Pte. Ltd. also received six awards: four for outstanding achievements in continuous improvement programs in all of Chartered's fabs, and two for individual outstanding engineering services support.
"2005 was a milestone year in which Chartered successfully ramped Fab 7 into volume production and accelerated yield learning for 90-nanometer (nm) manufacturing. We are pleased to recognize our suppliers and value-chain partners who were a key part of these achievements," said Tang Yong "TY" Ang, vice president of fab support operations at Chartered. "With the 65nm launch and our continuing internal efforts to further drive down the breakeven utilization rate across our fabs, our focus this year will be seamless collaboration, innovation and quality - to enable timely delivery, flawless execution, high productivity, and lower cost of ownership."
